Minecraft reveals concept art for crafter from Tricky Trials update
While Minecraft started out as a simple project, it quickly became one of the most popular titles in the gaming community. It is astonishing to realize how much work goes into planning and designing even a single item of the game. It also explains why the developers at Mojang Studios take their sweet time in planning and adding new updates. However, getting a behind-the-scenes peek at how things are conceptualized and finalized is always welcome.
Mojang Studios has released a video on Minecraft’s official YouTube channel showing how they decided to come up with the recently added crafter block. This block was added with the Tricky Trials update and is one of its most loved features. This article will cover everything the video talks about.
Minecraft reveals interesting details about the crafter block
The video is made in a very humorous way with a proper story-telling format, and explains the entire planning process of adding new items to the game. Evidently, the developers wanted to add something that is fun and makes the game easy, but not too easy. They want players to grind a little and find in-game situations at least somewhat challenging, which would add meaning and value to progressing in the game.
The crafter block allows players to add raw materials to it, and when powered with redstone, it crafts the required item. So this does make crafting easy, which can get tiresome after a point. However, it also forces the players to get better at using redstone contraptions. This was the logic behind adding the crafter block.
The video also showed some concept art for the crafter block and the idea behind the design. The team wanted to express the many qualities of the block without the need for any textual explanation. This is why they decided to give it a distinct facial appearance with eyes, so that players can understand that the item is ready and the crafter will throw it out.
Tricky Trials was one of the biggest updates Minecraft has gotten. It added a ton of new items and mobs to the game, including two new hostile mobs: the breeze and the bogged. These can be found in the trial chambers - another new addition to the game and perhaps the most exciting element of the Tricky Trials update.
The trial chamber is an underground palatial structure that contains dangerous mobs but rare loot as well. We can see a similar thought process of the developers regarding the crafter block - giving the players something interesting but making it quite challenging to obtain.
