Netherite armor with resin clumps might be the best Minecraft armor trim combo

Mojang Studios recently added resin in Pale Gardens for the upcoming Minecraft Winter drop. Despite not being hinted at during the developer's yearly event in September 2024, this new item was introduced in the most recent beta/preview 1.21.50.25. When applied, it creates an orange color on any armor trim of choice.

Because of its color, resin creates the best 'armor trim and armor' combinations when paired with netherite armor sets. This article explores more.

Netherite armor is considered the most powerful protection gear since netherite is the strongest material for gear-making. Hence, it is safe to say that most players will strive to get their hands on a full set.

Meanwhile, armor trims are smithing templates added to various structures. Hence, you will have a few. The only item you will need to find when the Winter update drops is resin.

The main reason why resin looks great on netherite armor is because of its color and easy availability. First off, resin has both light and dark orange colors when applied to armor, giving it a look similar to that of lava.

Whenever you apply resin with an armor trim to an armor part, it will look like lava is passing through the protective gear, making it aesthetically pleasing.

Furthermore, netherite is the perfect armor material to use it on since it is an endgame material and is almost black in color. Netherite also has a special connection to lava, as it is only found deep in the Nether realm which is filled with lava. The lava effect on netherite armor is apt since netherite, as a material, does not burn in lava.

How to get and apply resin on netherite armor

The first step is to get resin in Minecraft. It is a brand-new item that can only be created at night in the Pale Gardens. You must attack the Creaking multiple times when it spawns at night. The mob will then draw energy from its heart block, which is buried deep inside one of the pale oak trees.

The heart block will produce resin clumps that can be seen on other log blocks when the monster draws energy from it. You can then break these resin clumps by hand or with any kind of tool.

After obtaining resin clumps, you can use the material to color armor sets with any type of armor trim. The smithing table can be used for this. A choice of armor part, one resin clump, and any desired armor trim smithing template must be placed on the table.

You will then see that the orange design of the armor trims will be applied to the armor part. The user interface of the smithing table will display a small preview of it in its UI. You can then take out the decorated armor part and put it on.
