Minecraft reveals the Creaking, an SCP 173 lookalike mob

At the Minecraft Live event, Mojang Studios announced the Creaking mob. In many ways it is very different from all the other mobs in the game. It seems to be inspired by the SCP 173 mob that behaves very similarly. The present addition also brings with it a gameplay mechanic, making combat more challenging.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming Creaking mob.

Minecraft is getting the Creaking mob.

The addition of a new mob to Minecraft is always exciting as it makes the blocky world more interesting to explore. What’s even better is the addition of a new biome in the overworld where the Creaking mob can be found. It is called the “Pale Garden,” and it is exactly how it's named: colorless.

The Creaking mob has a distinct look with three glowing eyes. The hostile mob does not move as long as the player is looking directly at it. Breaking eye contact leads to the Creaking rushing to the player and attacking them.

The most interesting part about the Creaking is no matter how much the player attacks it, the Creaking will not take any damage. To kill it, players need to find a new item called the “Creaking heart” which is the source of the hostile mob. Destroying the heart will kill it.

Players can also use tools with the Silk Touch enchantment to break the block. Placing the Creaking heart anywhere between two pale wood blocks will spawn the Creaking mob.

The challenge here is that players must maintain eye contact with the Creaking while trying to look for its source heart. Another interesting aspect related to it is that it only spawns at night time.

Darkness, limited mobility, and a threatening mob; all these things make the game scary. The Creaking is expected to arrive in a few months along with the pale garden biome.

These two new additions, along with the “Terrified” emote, the Mask of the Witness, and the Bog Dweller mask show how the developers are working towards increasing the horror quotient of the game.

The Warden is one of the scariest mobs in the game, and it was a welcome addition. Adding another scary mob that also introduces a new game mechanic will make the experience even more fun.

All things considered, The Minecraft Live event was a great one with some great announcements and some great item drops.
