What should be the next Minecraft tree?

Trees in Minecraft are one of the most important parts of the game, even if they don’t always get the spotlight. Players get excited about new ores or new mobs, but new trees deserve some love too. When you first start a new Minecraft world, what's the first thing you do? You punch a tree. Without them, you wouldn’t have wood, and without wood, you wouldn’t have tools, shelter, or even a crafting table. They're the foundation of everything you do in the title.

Minecraft has added many types of trees, from the classic oak and birch to more exotic ones like acacia and mangrove. Each new addition brings something special, whether it’s a new type of wood or a unique look.

But what’s next? Could some trees add more than just wood? Here are some exciting ideas for the next Minecraft tree, from fruit trees to ancient trees that bring a whole new type of gameplay.

A fruit tree

Minecraft has plenty of tree types, but most of them are all about the wood. What if we had a tree that focused on food instead? An apple tree could be the perfect addition. Players already get apples from oak trees, but imagine having a tree full of apples ready to pick.

These trees could spawn in plains or forests, making it easier for players to find food early in the game. Like the azalea tree, which is technically made of oak wood, the apple tree wouldn’t need a new wood type. This keeps things simple while still adding something fresh.

The apple tree could even drop more apples than regular oak trees, making it a great resource for players who want to focus on farming or survival.

Minecraft biome vote loser tree

During Minecraft’s biome votes, players got excited about the idea of new trees like palm trees. They could finally make an appearance, especially in deserts. Deserts are known for being barren and tough to survive in, but palm trees could change that. They’d provide wood in a biome where resources are scarce, making it a lot easier to explore and build.

Palm trees could also double as fruit trees, giving dates or coconuts. These small touches would make deserts feel more alive and fun to explore. And who wouldn’t want to build a tropical island base surrounded by palm trees?

Ancient tree

The sniffer is an adorable ancient mob, but many players feel it doesn’t have enough purpose. That could change with the addition of an ancient tree. Having the sniffer dig up ancient saplings, which grow into a unique type of tree would be a great addition. This tree could have a completely new look, with unique colored leaves or strange bark textures.

It could even provide a rare type of wood used for crafting special items or blocks. Cherry leaves have served as excellent decorative blocks, and new leaves could follow this example. An ancient tree would give players a reason to use the sniffer, adding a sense of mystery to the game.

Players could explore the world in search of these rare saplings, making them a fun challenge to find and grow. Plus, the ancient tree could tie into Minecraft’s lore.
