The stop command in Minecraft is used to terminate an active server and essentially shut it down. Before doing so, it will save all changes made during gameplay, and once done, it will promptly kick all players out of the game.

This is a great command to use if you wish to shut down a session of a game or you are done with your gameplay. Rather than quitting the game, it is recommended to use the stop command to ensure your data is properly saved and all players are removed from the active session.

Here's how to use the stop command in Minecraft:

1) Make sure commands are enabled

Make sure that you have commands enabled in your current game. You can easily enable commands in your server by opening the command console and typing the following:

/op [username]

This will unlock all command lines for your server. Additionally, you can go to your server hosting console and enable commands from there.

2) Enter the stop command

Once commands are enabled in your server, simply pull up the command console by using the forward slash (‘/’) character. Once the command line is open, type the following:

/stop

Using this command will instantly begin the server shutdown process. You will notice a "Stopping the server" message in your command console followed by messages that confirm the saving of players, worlds, chunks, and more. Finally, the server will shut down, and everyone will be kicked out.
