Where to find calcite in Minecraft
Minecraft has loads of different blocks that can be used for decoration. They are essentially solid, with no real features other than their unique texture and color combination. Calcite is one such block. It cannot be crafted into anything special and can only be used for decoration — particularly for making floors, as it looks like marble from a distance.
Here is a short guide for finding caclite in Minecraft.
Locations in Minecraft where calcite can be found
Amethyst geode
Calcite is always generated as one of the layers in the amethyst geodes found underground in the Overworld realm. When players start digging, they will have a slim possibility of discovering amethyst geodes. These are tiny blobs in the Overworld terrain, whose outermost layer is composed of polished basalt, calcite, and amethyst.
Players can locate amethyst geodes ranging from Y level 26 to -46; there isn't a single optimal Y level. Notably, whenever a new chunk is generated, there is a 4% chance of it being an amethyst geode block.
Upon finding a geode, players can simply use their pickaxes to mine calcite blocks.
Stony Peaks
Stony Peaks is one of the mountain variants that mainly generate near savannas and forests, as it is a warm region. As the name suggests, it mainly consists of regular stone blocks. However, calcite blocks are also generated in large numbers on these mountains. Whenever a player notices white stripes of blocks on these mountainsides, they are essentially calcite deposits.
Once calcite is found, it must be only mined with a pickaxe, as it does not drop if mined with bare hands or any other tool. Furthermore, players can get loads of calcite if they use higher Fortune enchantments on their pickaxes.
Calcite's weakness in Minecraft
Though calcite can be used as a decorative block for constructing structures, it is not the best choice, because of its underwhelming hardness. Calcite only has 0.75 blast resistance and hardness, making it relatively weaker than most stone-related blocks, and even regular wood planks. Hence, players will need to protect any build that has calcite in it.
