Why Minecraft should add more features to the new creaking heart block

Mojang recently announced the new Creaking mob and Pale Garden biome in their annual Minecraft Live event. They showcased the new Overworld region and how it would spawn a unique hostile creature, posing a new challenge during the night. One of the most interesting features of the biome and mob was the new creaking heart block, which was an integral part of the new creature.

However, it is safe to say that Mojang needs to add a few more features to the new block to make it more interesting, especially after players obtain it.

Reasons why Minecraft's new creaking heart block should have more features in the future

How does the new creaking heart block work?

The creaking heart block, as the name suggests, is the new Creaking mob's life force of sorts. This block is responsible for spawning the new mob in the Pale Garden biome. Several creaking heart blocks are scattered around the biome, deep in the pale oak trees. When the night falls, they become active and spawn the wood-like monster.

During Minecraft Live, Mojang explained that the Creaking would not perish if attacked by any melee or ranged weapon. The mob only has half a heart of health, but it won't die or suffer any damage with conventional attacks.

Rather, the Creaking is connected to its heart block and will keep negating all attacks. Finding and destroying the Creaking's heart, hidden in one of the Pale Garden's trees, is the only way to finish the creature. When the block is destroyed with any item or hand, the mob will fall apart and die.

Creaking heart block's only role is spawning and keeping Creaking alive

The creaking heart block can also be obtained by chopping it down with any tool with a silk touch enchantment. However, it will not activate the moment it is placed anywhere.

The condition for it to activate is that it must be placed between two pale oak log blocks. Furthermore, all three blocks should be aligned vertically or horizontally for the creaking heart to activate.

As explained above, the creaking heart only spawns the Creaking mob at night and protects it from any melee or ranged weapon damage. Apart from this, the new block has no other role or feature in Minecraft.

Of course, it is worth mentioning that Mojang is still developing new blocks, mobs, and biomes before it finally releases in a few months. Hence, we might see the creaking heart change in the future. Despite that, an argument can be made that the block should have more features useful to players.

As of now, gamers can only use the creaking heart block to prank each other by installing it in others' bases in multiplayer servers.
