Why was Minecraft Biome Vote better than Mob Vote?

The reason why Minecraft has managed to fend off competition and stay not only relevant but also quite popular for more than 15 years is because of the constant updates it gets. Not just updates, but there are special events hosted by Mojang Studios that focus on the upcoming new things to the game. But with time, everything changed, and so did this event. Unfortunately, it was for the worse.

In this article, we will be explaining how Minecraft Biome Vote was much better than the current Mob Vote event. From the overall quality of the update to the impact, we will explain how the Biome Vote was much more beneficial for the game and the players. Thankfully, the Mob Vote has been canceled and Mojang Studios are yet to announce what event would replace it.

NOTE: This article is subjective and reflects the writer's opinion.

Minecraft Biome Vote gave equal attention to all biomes

Here’s the simple fact about Minecraft; there are many biomes that need equal attention to make the overall experience of the game better. Updating just one biome and ignoring the rest is not the right way ahead. This was never the case with Biome Vote.

In the offline Biome Vote event, players would vote to select the biome that would get the update first. This meant that players had the say in which update needed to be updated first based on their gameplay experience. The developers would first work on that biome and then update the rest of the biomes.

This meant that every biome got the benefit of the update while the one that needed it the most received the update first. This alone is enough to make Biome Vote much better than Mob Vote, which just adds one new mob to the game while the other options are shelved indefinitely.

Better updates for present content

This is one of the best things about Biome Vote update: Instead of adding new mobs or items that require further exploration, Biome Vote focused on the already present features and biomes and made them better. These updates also added new content but did not ignore the already present ones, which makes the updates so good.

Mojang Studios has a lot of content that needs updating. Thankfully, the recent snapshots focused on improving them, including the minecart that has been almost useful for years. Hopefully, the new update structure will focus on improving more already-present features.

Biome updates added substantial content

Unlike the Mob Vote which adds a new mob that usually is not that impactful, the Biome Vote update has always added substantial content to the game. For example, consider the addition of the sniffer mob which is rare to find and has very limited use.

Now imagine the sniffer mob with the taiga biome update of 2018 that added new items such as sweet berries, foxes, and campfires. One can imagine how big and impactful these additions were as they are still used today and become a core part of Minecraft.

We can expect a new form of update system that Mojang Studios will go with and hopefully, they will focus on improving content as well as adding new things frequently.
