3 Big names to look on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contenders
Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS) Season one has seen some big names like Sean "Sugar" O'Malley joining the UFC roster; the second edition also has some big names to look out for.
Licensed separately from the UFC, DWTNCS is a promotion event that will provide, forthcoming fighters the chance to showcase their talents in an expectation that one day they may fight in the UFC.
The previous season of DWTNCS held 8 events and about 40 bouts; it also had an option for alternative commentary provided by rapper Snoop Dogg and UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber.
DWTNCS will feature athletes from outside the United States on Season two and will be held in TUF Gym, Las Vegas, Nevada.
It has 10 events and a separate Brazilian edition with six episodes featuring UFC legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira as a guest judge.
The 2nd edition will commence this June and holds some big names.
#3 Greg Hardy
Footballers are not new to the fight business, high-level fighters like Matt Mitrione and Brenden Schaub have their roots in NFL, even Brock Lesnar had a short stint in football.
Their supreme athleticism aids in this transition but they still have a lot of skill deficit as compared to lifelong martial artists.
The Latest NFL player to step into the MMA world is '2013 Top 100' ranked Greg Hardy. He will make his DWTNCS debut this June against another heavyweight Brandon Sayles.
This may not be Hardy's forte, but his fight stats show otherwise. He had a first-round stoppage in all his three previous fights.
Tuesday Night Contenders is a really good choice for Hardy since the amount of spectators is way less than an actual UFC event and if he manages to secure a win its one step closer to getting into UFC.
UFC's 'Black Beast' Derrick Lewis has already expressed interest in fighting Hardy, while Hardy prefers to fight the heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
Anyway, things will get really interesting if he manages a win and gets into UFC.
If everything goes well, he could very well be another cash cow for White.
