3 keys to victory for Superbon against Jo Nattawut at ONE Friday Fights 81
While Superbon will likely enter his featherweight Muay Thai showdown with Jo Nattawut as a slight favorite, he knows too well not to underestimate his fellow Thai warrior.
The interim kickboxing kingpin will return to 'The Art of Eight Limbs' in the curtain closer of ONE Friday Fights 81: Superbon vs. Nattawut on Sept. 27, live in Asian primetime, from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
A victory over the second-ranked contender may very well set Superbon on another collision course with 155-pound Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai.
That said, if Superbon follows these three keys to victory, he may very well get his hand raised inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai' at ONE Friday Fights 81. The full event is available via PPV at watch.onefc.com.
3. Keep 'Smokin' Jo at bay
A big reason why Tawanchai seemingly struggles against Nattawut is because of the latter's in-your-face style. The 35-year-old simply keeps coming and always finds a way to close distance and trade bombs at his preferred range.
Superbon should once again rely on his nifty footwork to keep Nattawut on the outside, while also creating space for him to launch his deadly kicking arsenal from mid-range.
2. Punish Nattawut's legs
Speaking of kicks, Superbon should uncork his best weapon early and often. Chopping down Nattawut to hinder his ability to push forward will be a wise choice for the 34-year-old tactician.
Moreover, volume striking will be key for Superbon since it will force 'Smokin' Jo to check on those leg kicks and be on the defensive, while also limiting his chances of generating his own offense.
1. Rely on brilliant counterstriking
Superbon's striking is as fluid as they come. A big reason for this is his ability to discern his opponent's attacks and respond accordingly, often using their best strengths against them.
If the interim featherweight kickboxing champ is successful in maintaining a safe distance and landing his lower body assault, these would open the door for his world-class counterattacks.
Plus, considering this is just a three-round fight, Nattawut will likely get frustrated and turn on the aggression, leaving him vulnerable to well-timed counters.
