5 fights to look forward to at UFC 221
The UFC has just released the main card for its February pay-per-view, and some of the match-ups are mouth-watering, to say the least.
Let's take a look at 5 fights you should look forward to on the main card of UFC 221:
#1 Robert Whittaker vs. Luke Rockhold
Let's start off with the main event of the night, Luke Rockhold vs Robert Whittaker. The fight is a highly-anticipated one with both men coming off huge wins, Rockhold winning against David Branch last September in a one-sided affair and Whittaker coming in on an 8-fight win streak, with his latest victory coming against "The Soldier of God" Yoel Romero, by way of unanimous decision.
Whittaker is known for his unorthodox style of striking (which frequently throw off opponents), his slick takedown defence, and his brutal ground-and-pound.
Rockhold, on the other hand, is a ground-based fighter, with a Black Belt in BJJ, as well as an elite kickboxer, though Whittaker is expected to dominate in a standing affair.
If Whittaker can, as seen in his last 8 fights, control the tempo of the match, victory is practically assured. On the other hand, if Rockhold finds a way to get Whittaker on the ground, and find a way to stop his opponent from recovering, he'd be able to dominate the fight. Either way, this is sure to be a good one.
