AJ Lee vs Ronda Rousey might be a possibility?

Fantasy match-up : Ronda vs AJ

We’ve seen Vince McMahon versus Donald Trump in The Battle of The Billionaires, we’ve seen Big Show versus Floyd “Money” Mayweather at WrestleMania 31, but how far away are we from seeing Rousey versus Lee?

This match might seem like a fantasy for some, but the truth is, The WWE has done cross promotions like this before, one of the most memorable one being The Battle of The Billionaires between Team Donald Trump and Team McMahon, where Trump and Bobby Lashley won the honor of shaving Vince McMahon’s head after Umaga fell victim to a timely spear by Lashley. Another example of cross promotion was when boxer, Floyd Mayweather, entered into a storyline feud with Big Show at WrestleMania 24, with Mayweather’s undefeated streak on the line. The match was stipulated as a no disqualification match, and was ultimately won, when Mayweather hit Big Show with Brass Knuckles for a K.O punch.

While UFC and WWE may not be on great terms, after it was revealed that Vince McMahon refused to allow his wrestlers to accompany fighters to the ring, because he saw UFC as too dangerous and said that someone could get killed in there, no one can deny that it would be a monstrous opportunity for publicity if Rousey and Lee could meet in the ring. Rousey is a very sought after and followed entity right now, due to her decimation of any challenge in the UFC that has come her way.  Her most recent victory coming after defeating Cat Zingano in 13 seconds with a brutal armbar submission. The win broke a record the shortest UFC title fight in the history of the organization.

Her fight before that, ended when Rousey knocked out opponent, Alexis Davis, is just 16 seconds to win the fight. She was also rewarded for the fight, with a performance of the night bonus. In all honesty, Rousey is killing machine, making a match with Lee just that much more appealing to all parties involved. The match between the two femme fatales would be no doubt covered on every single publication on the internet, giving a lot of needed publicity to WWE, who continues to struggle to get mainstream media attention on almost a daily basis. The match would also give Rousey fresh blood, and a new victim to defeat, only furthering her career as the best woman fighter alive.

2 of the most dominant womens’ champs in sports-entertainment

The UFC and WWE need to act on this idea as soon as possible. Rousey is a hot commodity in the media right now, covered by mainstream sites like ESPN, SI.com, The Washington Post and CBS Sports, why would WWE not take advantage of that mega media attention, and make this match happen at Summerslam this year! Unfortunately, the question still remains, what would be Rousey’s interest in going to The WWE, even for just one fight against the best of The Divas roster? Well, the answer to that is, to do something new. Rousey has done acting, competed in Olympic judo, and even won The UFC bantamweight championship, and defended it successfully five times so far. Seriously, what else is there for this woman to accomplish?

That’s where AJ Lee comes in. Lee is a three-time Divas champion, and has had the longest run with the butterfly belt since its inception. She is small, but she is also quick and able to use others weight against them, even utilizing a submission move called, The Black Widow. The fact of the matter is, that Rousey needs reputable opponents, and AJ Lee seems to be a reputable as they come. She has dominated The Divas division, since defeating Kaitlyn for the title at WWE payback, and has been on a trail of destruction ever since. She even defeated every other diva on the roster, in the Vickie Guerrero Invitational at WrestleMania 30. Whether this match could ever be a possibility in the squared circle remains to be seen, but with no suitable opponent for Rousey, and the divas division trying to be taken more seriously, the match would defiantly be a huge draw for any pay per view on The WWE’s calendar, and a huge payday of publicity for anyone involved.
