Alexander Volkanovski agreed to do a tremendous gesture for a fan in throwback tweet
Alexander Volkanovski has amassed an incredible fanbase through his compelling performances as well as his likable personality.
'The Great' will be fighting in front of his home fans this weekend at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. As fight night edges closer, one of Volkanovski's most dedicated Australian fans shared a screenshot of his exchange with the featherweight champion.
The fan, who goes by the Twitter handle @McGregorRousey, is one of the most popular MMA fan accounts online. He recently shared the DM he sent Volkanovski asking whether it would be possible for 'The Great' to attend the birth of @McGregorRousey's child.
Alexander Volkanovski appeared to agree to the request without hesitation and was only prevented from attending the special moment due to the location:
"Send me the location and when is she due mate?"
"Ahhh in the U.S may make things difficult. Hopefully I'm in the states around that time."

Alexander Volkanovski will move up in weight to take on Islam Makhachev for the undisputed lightweight title in the main event of UFC 284 this weekend. The bout will see the No.1 and No.2-ranked pound-for-pound fighters in the organization do battle. 'The Great' will attempt to achieve double-champ status, while Makhachev is eager to lay claim to Volkanovski's pound-for-pound crown.
Alexander Volkanovski comments on Conor McGregor's return to lightweight
Alexander Volkanovski is by no means looking past his opponent this week, Islam Makhachev. However, 'The Great' did share his thoughts on Conor McGregor's return to lightweight and a possible fight with the Irishman in the future.
McGregor last fought against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, where 'The Notorious' suffered a devastating leg injury. After undergoing rehabilitation for over a year, the Irishman has been announced as the coach of the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter alongside Michael Chandler.
The pair will go head-to-head following the season's completion, and Alexander Volkanovski believes that if McGregor beats Chandler, he could certainly be awarded a title shot at 155 pounds. This is something that 'The Great' appears to be excited about, as he plans on becoming the lightweight champion after Saturday night.
The featherweight champion appeared in front of the media yesterday and said:
"For poeple to say [Conor McGregor] wouldn't deserve [a title shot], you're pretty crazy right? It's Conor McGregor, if he takes out someone like Chandler you know his name will be mentioned... It's good to look at, because I plan on taking that lightweight belt, I'm looking at seeing what's happening."
