Alyse Anderson details breaks down Adriano Moraes vs Demetrious Johnson trilogy fight
Alyse Anderson believes Adriano Moraes will be looking for a big finish in his highly anticipated trilogy bout with reigning ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson.
On May 5, Anderson will return to the Circle for a women’s atomweight showdown with No. 1 ranked contender Stamp Fairtex. That same evening, one of the biggest trilogy bouts in ONE Championship history will go down as Johnson and Moraes headline ONE Fight Night 10, the promotion’s long-awaited debut in the United States.
Before they all head to the 1stBank Center in Colorado, Alyse Anderson shared her thoughts on the ONE flyweight title clash during an interview with ONE Championship.
“Yeah, [Johnson’s] got a lot of power in his hands,” Anderson said. “Also his wrestling, I think that Adriano is probably going to want to get a finish because he’s not going to want to get laid down by Demetrious’ wrestling. If he can shut down Adriano’s grappling, he doesn’t want to get laid down and beat up for five rounds.”
After suffering his first career knockout loss against Adriano Moraes at ONE on TNT 1 in 2021, Demetrious Johnson struck back 16 months later, delivering a spectacular fourth-round flying knee knockout to capture the ONE flyweight world title. With the fighters sitting at 1-1, they’ll lock up inside the Circle one more time with bragging rights and 26 pounds of ONE gold on the line.
Alyse Anderson believes she has an advantage on the ground against Stamp Fairtex
It’s no secret that Stamp Fairtex’s biggest Achilles heel in mixed martial arts is her grappling. That’s not to say that Stamp can’t hold her own on the ground. Her first-round submission victory over Ritu Phogat during the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix tournament more than proved that, but Stamp’s bread and butter has always been her striking.
Alyse Anderson believes her ground game is superior to that of Stamp’s and she’ll look to get things to the ground against the fan-favorite when they square off at ONE Fight Night 10 next month.
“I think that I am most comfortable as a grappler, which is why I like this matchup,” Anderson said. “Because Stamp is a world-class kickboxer, but she does have holes in MMA, I see them in her grappling.”
