Amanda Nunes wants Ronda Rousey fight, Dana White on Tito Ortiz lying about Cyborg vs Rousey
-Ronda Rousey is sure to face Meisha Tate in her next title defence for the third time but she has a new contender on the rise as Amanda Nunes has called for a shot at the women’s bantamweight title or any competitor who would get her closer to that title shot.
Amanda stamped her authority on the women’s division when she submitted the ex-olympian and former title challenger Sara McMann in the first round itself at UFC fight night 73 by showing some effective striking and submission skills. This was her second straight victory and she made it clear that if she wants Rousey and if is willing to fight another challenger before that."I'm close now, you know? I see she has a fight coming up. If I have to have one more fight, I will take it. Whatever happens, I am going to be ready. I keep getting better. “ commented Nunes post fight.
She would be more focused on the fighting and not the talking unlike Beth and is ready to take on all competition be it Cat Zingano or Alexis Davis on her way to a title shot."I think I deserve a title shot, or maybe someone close to it. I don't need to talk” said Nunes.
- Dana White labelled Tito Ortiz a liar and dismissed Ortiz’s claims that Cristine “Cyborg” Justino was offered a fight against the women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey at the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas later in the year.
He refuted the claims of the former welterweight champion by saying "That was a complete lie. It's 100 percent a lie. First of all, the UFC doesn't even talk to Tito Ortiz, so let's start there. But, we haven't offered any fight to [Justino]. Tito Ortiz is just making this [expletive] up. In no way, shape or form did we offer her a fight against Ronda at Cowboys Stadium. Completely untrue. The problem is, this kind of thing gets out there and picks up momentum when there is no truth to it. And it was just something that he decided to make up. But it's not true."
The fight that has been speculated for years, but due to different weight classes, the fight hasn’t happened but Cyborg recently has claimed she would cut the 135 pound limit and retire Rousey in the potential super fight.
Ortiz stated "I've heard from Cris [Justino] actually that the fight that's supposed to be happening at the Cowboy's arena ... they offered the fight to Cris. I know her management said 'yes' and I've told her, ‘Let's do it.' So I guess the ball's all in Ronda [Rousey]'s corner and Ronda wants to do it. Dana said if Cris came down to 135 they'll make the fight happen, so let's see if Ronda accepts the fight."
Cyborg on her part has come out and defended her former manager, when she posted the following:
