Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson ready to return in August, opponent to be decided
After a third round submission loss to Daniel Cormier back at UFC 187 for the vacant 205-pound light heavyweight title this past May, Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson was deprived of a ten-fight win streak. And now he is planning on making a comeback to UFC this August. The number one contender in the Light Heavyweight division, there seems to be an issue finding him the right opponent.
Rumble’s last two opponents Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustaffson are out of the list, as they will be fighting each other later this year. And the No.4 ranked Glover Teixeira will be fighting Ovince St. Preux at Fight Night 73 on August 8. Even Ryan Bader seems to be focused on a potential UFC 192 bout with Rashad Evans.
So if Anthony is keen on making a comeback next month, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is a possible option to consider. Or he could bulk up and face Andrei Arlovski in the heavyweight division, whom he defeated outside UFC in the World Series of Fighting back in 2012. So unless Rumble considers these possible options, he might have to wait for a while before stepping inside the octagon.
What do you think he should do?
