What's the story?

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger finally made his debut in Bellator when he faced JW Kiser at Bellator 214.

Coming from WWE he had a lot to prove as he made his MMA debut. However, he was able to make sure that he had the proper backup, as he was accompanied by a friend of his from his WWE days.

In case you didn't know...

Jack Swagger, fighting under the name Jake Hager in his debut for Bellator MMA, is a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and a former United States Champion.

Swagger did it all in WWE, but after leaving was signed by Bellator MMA to fight in the promotion in 2017. It was expected that he would make his debut in Bellator in 2018, but it never happened.

The fans had to wait the full year to finally get news about Jake Hager's run in MMA. It was finally announced that Swagger would make his debut in Bellator in the first month of 2019 as part of the Bellator 214 card. Fighting on the same card as Ryan Bader and Fedor Emelianenko, Swagger was in good company.

The heart of the matter

Jack Swagger made a huge impression from the moment he stepped out into the arena as he made his way down into the Bellator MMA Cage. He was accompanied by WWE Superstar R-Truth, as he rapped Swagger's entrance song and accompanied him down to the Octagon.

The huge entrance was a foreshadowing of things to come once he entered the cage, as he left making quite the impression.

It remains to be seen if R-Truth will be a permanent fixture for Swagger's entrances for MMA.

What's next?

Jack Swagger defeated JW Kiser in under 2 minutes on his debut in Bellator MMA. Now it remains to be seen whether Swagger's win in Bellator MMA will help him earn a WWE contract again in the future, given WWE's preference for MMA Fighters.
