Santos Saul Álvarez Barragan, professionally known as Canelo Álvarez, is a professional boxer from Mexico. Starting training at the age of 13, Álvarez turned pro at the tender age of 15. In his first-ever pro bout, he faced Abraham Gonzalez. Álvarez bagged a fourth-round TKO and showed the fight world a glimpse of what he has to offer.

Álvarez is set to fight Edgar Berlanga in his next outing on September 14, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States, where the Mexican legend will be defending his super middleweight titles.

Canelo Álvarez has four children with four different women. In 2007, he had his first child - Emily, with his childhood sweetheart Karen Beltran. The couple separated soon after Emily’s birth, however, Álvarez still maintains a relationship with Emily. He had his second child, Mia Ener, with model Valeria Quiroz.

Álvarez then had a boy with his business partner Nadia Sepulveda. The couple was reported to be dating for a year before they welcomed a baby boy - Saul Adiel Álvarez.

Álvarez met his current wife, Fernanda Gomez, in 2013. The two were in attendance in 2017 at a charity event and have dated ever since. They welcomed their first child - Maria Fernanda Álvarez, in 2018.

The current Unified WBA (super) champion has held multiple belts in different weight divisions. With a career record of 61-2-2, Álvarez is considered to be one of the GOATs of boxing. With a net worth of $275 million, the Mexican has been labeled as one of the biggest draws currently.

He proved the above assumption by signing a 5-year $365 million fight contract with boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya’s promotion and DAZN in 2018. Media Outlets reported the deal to be as lucrative as they come. In an interview with BBC Sports, Álvarez has the following to say about the deal -

"Being part of this historic deal will require me to prepare myself even more and offer fans even better performances,"
"At the same time, I am humbled to be selected to lead this new vision for the sport of boxing, which will without a doubt be for the benefit of the fans."

However, due to an alleged breach of contract by DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions, Álvarez was released from his contract after he filed a lawsuit.
