"Please don't do that" - Chael Sonnen hilariously dismisses Beneil Dariush's claims of 'being put on Earth to fight' and not wanting title, insists there's more to the top lightweight

Chael Sonnen recently sought to clarify comments made by his friend and top lightweight contender Beneil Dariush.

Dariush has been a perennial contender at 155 lbs. According to many, he deserves to be next in line for a shot at the lightweight strap.

Dariush recently claimed that he will not wait for his chance to fight for UFC gold while speaking to Luke Thomas on Morning Kombat. Instead, he called out Charles Oliveira, Rafael Fiziev and the winner of Michael Chandler vs. Dustin Poirier. Dariush also stated that he was 'put on this Earth to fight', and that a UFC belt would not define him as a fighter.

Chael Sonnen picked up on these comments, which spurred him to release a humorous video insisting that there was more to his friend than 'just being a fighter'.

'The American Gangster' released a video on his YouTube channel and said:

"What?! God put you here to fight in the UFC at 155 lbs against the best in the... No! Please don't do that. There's more to Benny. This is a husband, a friend, a teammate, this is a fighter. No, he's not just here to fight. I gotta tell ya, when guys start to do that. It gets slippery real fast."

Chael Sonnen believes that Beneil Dariush could fight the winner of Chandler vs. Poirier for #1 contender spot

Chael Sonnen has claimed that Beneil Dariush will fight the winner of next weekend's bout between Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier.

'The American Gangster' believes that Dariush would need to face the winner of Chandler vs. Poirier to secure his number one contender spot at lightweight. Current featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will be taking on Islam Makhachev early next year.

'The American Gangster' claimed that unless 'The Great' is forced to withdraw from the bout, Dariush will need to fight one more time in order to secure the next shot.

Sonnen released a video on his YouTube channel, saying:

"You've got Benny [Dariush] sitting there. But I don't think Benny can go next as long as the chips fall where they're supposed to fall. Because that appears to be Volkanovski. So am I right that Dariush is sitting there and he's ready. And his opponent is coming up, and it's either gonna be Chandler or Poirier."
