Charles Oliveira

Charles "do Bronx" Oliveira was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 17, 1989. He is a UFC lightweight contender renowned for his terrific BJJ and record-breaking performances. Nicknamed "do Bronx"because he grew up in a neighborhood that some refer to as the "Bronx", Oliveira was raised amidst financial struggles but managed to take up martial arts at an early age. He participated in several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships before making his transition into mixed martial arts. He made his UFC debut in 2010, building a name for himself as an aggressive grappler, who holds the record for most submissions in UFC history.

Oliveira won the UFC lightweight title in May 2021, topping Michael Chandler before successfully defending against Dustin Poirier. Oliveira’s long career in the UFC includes wins over elite talent such as Justin Gaethje, Tony Ferguson, and Beneil Dariush. While he lost his title to Islam Makhachev in 2022, Oliveira remains the second-ranked contender at 155 pounds and his next outing is a rematch against Michael Chandler at UFC 309 on November 16, 2024.
