Colby Covington reveals what Jorge Masvidal said to him before he jumped him with his face covered
Colby Covington was infamously attacked by Jorge Masvidal outside the Papi Steak restaurant in Miami on March 21. The pair had fought a few weeks earlier at UFC 272, where all sorts of insults were traded both pre-fight and in the cage following their bout.
As it turns out, the reason for Masvidal's ambush stemmed back to alleged comments made by his former friend about his family. Footage of Covington's interaction with the police following the attack has been released, where 'Chaos' revealed what Masvidal said after punching him.
Colby Covington stated the following:
"He had his hoodie on, a surgical mask on, and I think he maybe had a hat on. But I could clearly see his eyes and his long curly hair. He only braids it when he fights. I could automatically tell by his eyes, hair and voice saying, 'Yeah you shouldn't have talked about my kids.'"
'Chaos' then explained that he only mentioned Masvidal's children in the context of his alleged lack of parenting:
"The reference to the kids is in our last fight, at the press conference, I said, 'You're a deadbeat dad, you don't talk to your kids.' Because I have a relationship with his kids as well because 'cause we were that close of friends."

Henry Cejudo believes Colby Covington would edge out Khamzat Chimaev over five rounds
Welterweight superstars Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev are currently ranked No.2 and No.3 respectively in the UFC's welterweight division. A fight between the pair has been rumored, and the potential matchup has fans excited.
The stylistic matchup between Covington and Chimaev would almost certainly make for a thrilling contest. 'Borz' is arguably the biggest fighter inside the top 15 of the division, whereas 'Chaos' is a genuine welterweight.
It would be a case of power versus cardio, and former UFC champion Henry Cejudo believes that Colby Covington's relentless pace could be too much for 'Borz'.
Cejudo recently broke down why 'Chaos' could be a tough matchup for Chimaev, stating the following:
"I think this is gonna be a good fight. I think it’s gonna come down to who’s recovered faster and quicker. And if this is a five-round fight, I almost want to lean towards Colby Covington because, as we saw in that Gilbert Burns fight with Khamzat Chimaev."
