Conor McGregor promises Nate Diaz trilogy fight
In the midst of his busy schedule, Conor McGregor took some time to discuss all things MMA with Ariel Helwani, leading to the Irishman promising fans that a third fight with Nate Diaz will happen someday.
'The Notorious' has always been a captivating presence in mixed martial arts and often gets what he asks for due to his superstardom in the sport, something fans have been critical of in the past. Whether he's loved or hated, he is still the biggest name to ever emerge from the cage and is rightfully treated as such by the UFC.
During his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Conor McGregor stated that he plans on fighting Nate Diaz for a third time and confirmed that the fight will unfold in the future:
"The Ultimate Fighter just kind of presented itself, it was originally to be against Nate. It was me versus Nate... No [I wasn't disappointed that Diaz isn't opposing me on TUF], I'll get that again.
"That trilogy will happen at some stage for sure... We must fight. We're one apiece, it's a great rivalry, and it was a great fight, so we gotta square that away for sure... Am I a person not to get the fights made and done and happen? Look at all the fights I've had. When I say it, it happens."
In its 30-year history, the UFC has had some brilliant rivalries that have played out over a number of bouts. Standing among the very top of the list — arguably alongside Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier, Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz, and Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno — is Conor McGregor's feud with Nate Diaz.

Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz: Will the two megastars ever fight again?
Given their current status in the fight game, it arguably doesn't seem the most likely thing for Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz to compete again, but that could, of course, change.
Currently, Nate is a free agent and looks to be seeking a big payday in boxing whilst 'The Notorious' is making his UFC return and trying to bulldoze his way into the title picture.
A trilogy in the boxing ring could be a possibility in the future, but if we are ever going to see these two compete in MMA again, the Stockton native must return to the octagon.
