Daniel Cormier vs Alexander Gustafsson 'slightly' delayed due to an injury to DC !!
It seems like the UFC light heavyweight title match between Daniel Cormier and Swedish contender Alexander Gustafsson has been ‘slightly’ delayed due an undisclosed injury to the current champion Cormier. The match was scheduled to happen at UFC 191 in September.
According MMAjunkie.com who confirmed the news with a UFC official, the bout has been delayed and the new date is not yet finalized. It is also said that Cormier is suffering from a knee injury, but there are no details on it yet.
At first it was expected that No. 3-ranked Ryan Bader was the one who would get a title shot, but came as a surprise when UFC President announced No. 2 Gustafsson as the opponent for DC last month. Cormier last bout was his title winning match against Anthony Johnson at the UFC 187 in May, whereas Gustafsson lost his previous bout to “Rumble” through a first-round knockout at the UFC on FOX 14 this past January.
UFC 191 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 5th. The only confirmed fight is a women’s strawweight contest between Paige VanZant and Alex Chambers.
