Demetrious Johnson says he’s been “chilling” while contemplating about retirement

Demetrious Johnson hasn’t had an opportunity to sit down and consider his future in mixed martial arts just yet.

Fresh off his impressive victory over division rival Adriano Moraes at ONE Fight Night 10, the reigning ONE flyweight world champion plans on taking a long hard look at his future in the sport. Will he continue after nearly two decades of dominance or will he hang up the gloves for good? Only time will tell. For now, Demetrious Johnson is just relaxing and focusing on work at home before making one of the biggest decisions of his life:

“Yeah, I’ve been chilling. I’ve literally just been working in. Tomorrow I have to do a video shoot at the house. So I’ve been extremely busy, I haven’t had time to actually sit down and think about it, and, you know, like everybody tells me: ‘You’d know when it’s time’. I’ve just been chilling, you know.”

After dominating in North America, Demetrious Johnson made his ONE Championship debut in 2019 following a historic trade with the UFC. He picked up right where he left off, securing three straight wins on his way to winning the 2019 ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix. That led him directly to the trilogy with eight-time titleholder Adriano Moraes.

Johnson also made history by competing in the promotion’s first-ever mixed-rules superfight, squaring off with Muay Thai icon Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE’s 10th-anniversary showcase ONE X. Fans undoubtedly want to see ‘Mighty Mouse’ continue to compete, but if he decides that now is the time to walk away, he will go down as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all time.

If you missed any of the action, or just want to relive one of the most epic nights in ONE Championship history, the ONE Fight Night 10 replay can be watched live via Amazon Prime Video in North America.
