Combate Americas is the world’s premier Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts sports and media franchise. Coming up on Saturday, December 7, 2019 is Combate Americas 51, an 11-bout fight card headlined by the "Tito vs. Alberto" main event at McAllen, Texas' Payne Arena.

The "Tito" in the "Tito vs. Alberto" fight is, of course, Tito Ortiz, the UFC Hall of Famer and former World Light Heavyweight champion. The "Alberto" is a multiple-time WWE Heavyweight Champion and former WWE, PRIDE and DEEP MMA star (and current Combate Americas favorite) Alberto Del Rio.

Also on the card is Desiree "Dirty Dez" Yanez, who is competing for the Combate Americas Women's World Strawweight Championship against Melissa Martinez. Based out of Texas, Yanez is on a 4-fight winning streak, last fighting as part of "Combate 40" against Paulina Vargas.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Desiree "Dirty Dez" Yanez by phone on December 4, 2019, about her upcoming fight with Combate Americas, training, and life away from MMA. A recording of the full interview is embedded below, while part of the interview has been transcribed exclusively for Sportskeeda.

On her upcoming fight for "Combate Americas 51":

Desiree "Dirty Dez" Yanez: Win or lose, I'm not going to dwell. I'm still going to be fighting, obviously. Obviously, the game plan is to win and I feel very confident that's going to happen... I'm going to take care of business. Whatever happens after this, I'm ready for that too... I'm not really worried what's going to happen after this. Let's focus on this fight, let's do what we've got to do.

On life for her outside of MMA and training:

Desiree "Dirty Dez" Yanez: It's very fun. Me and my boyfriend, we just got a house, we got a puppy, we actually have kayaks. This might sound crazy but I am a huge bass fisherman. I used to want to be a professional bass fisherman. I still may be one day, after I retire from fighting, I could get into professional bass fishing. A lot of people think I'm weird for saying that, but it's one of my biggest passions. I haven't done it enough and I want to get back into it once the weather starts getting warmer. I'm obsessed with bass fishing. It's one of my favorite things besides fighting.
