Ex-UFC star eyes return for one purpose, Dricus du Plessis reacts to Drake's lost bet, and more: MMA News Roundup
One UFC star is eager for a comeback with only one goal in mind. Elsewhere Dricus du Plessis gave a tongue-in-cheek reaction to Drake losing his bet on Israel Adesanya.
Here are today's top combat sports updates, presented by Sportskeeda MMA.
Darren Till wants to beat up Israel Adesanya
Darren Till, who left the UFC after eight years in early 2023, wants to come back to dish out a beating to Dricus du Plessis. The middleweight champion mocked the fact that Till had predicted against him and sarcastically asked for advice to beat Israel Adesanya.
In response, Till admitted that du Plessis' style works for him but he's still "sh*t."
The Liverpudlian followed up with a tweet about returning to the promotion:
"I might come back [to] the UFC just to beat DDP & leave again. What you saying @danawhite Hunter [Campbell]."
Dricus du Plessis gets cheeky about Drake's UFC 305 bet
Drake bet $450,000 on Israel Adesanya to win at UFC 305, with an estimated cashout of $855,000. It became another one of the musician's lost sporting bets as Adesanya tapped out to the South African in the fourth round.
After the win, du Plessis made fun of Drake's misfortune on X:
"From the bottom of my heart once again THANK YOU @Drake"
Drake previously bet $700,000 on Sean Strickland to beat du Plessis which also did not go well. It earned a similar banter from 'Stillknocks' on social media after he ran through Strickland in the UFC title fight.
Joe Rogan has a theory about Jeffrey Epstein
Joe Rogan had American billionaire Peter Thiel as a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience episode #2190 and the two spoke briefly on the matter of Jeffrey Epstein's controversial elite connections. The business tycoon, who died in his jail cell after facing federal charges for alleged trafficking of minors and other sex crimes, is a source of many conspiracy theories surrounding his ties.
Rogan believes that employing underage individuals to cater to wealthy patrons was his manner of holding leverage against the elites. He told Thiel on the show:
"But I would think that that is one of the best motivators that we have; is having dirt on people like that, especially something that can ruin your career, especially people that are deeply embedded in this system of people knowing things about people and using those at their advantage. I mean, that's an age-old strategy in politics. That was J. Edgar Hoover's entire modus operandi."
Thiel disagreed with the UFC commentator and stated that the people in Epstein's clandestine club were well aware of the consequences of their actions.
Jake Paul gets booed by New York fans
Jake Paul was heckled by the fans during a recent press conference in New York City to promote his upcoming fight with Mike Tyson. The veteran boxing legend, who is a Brooklyn native, was naturally the fan-favorite at the event. His opponent was met with "f*ck Jake Paul" chants, to which 'The Problem Child' responded by calling out the city's political affiliations:
"Hey, New York. Shut the f**k up, New York, boo yourself. Hey, New York, you're just like Mike Tyson -oyou were good 20 years ago. F**k you New York, f**k you. Dumba** Democratic city."
Fans were divided on the matter on social media.
