Exclusive: Liz Carmouche talks about fighting for the Title, her preparations, and more
UFC Fight Night 145: Blachowicz vs Santos is set to take place tonight.
The main event will see two top Light Heavyweights in Jan Blachowicz and Thiago Santos fight each other. This will be Thiago Santos' 4th fight in only 7 months.
Elsewhere on the card of UFC Prague, Liz Carmouche will be fighting Lucie Pudilova in an attempt to extend her winning streak. One of the best women fighters currently in the UFC, a win here could mean big things for Carmouche in the future.
Prior to her fight against Lucie Pudilova, I had the chance to catch up with Liz and pose a couple of questions before her.
Q. You recently commented on why you thought you were more deserving of the Valentina Shevchenko fight than Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Is that a fight that you want next?
LC: As long as she holds the title, it’s still something that interests me. I’m always gunning for whoever is holding the title. As long as she has it, I’m still gunning for her.
Q. What are your thoughts and preparations like ahead of your fight against Lucie Pudilova?
LC: The preparation has been wonderful. It’s the first time I’ve stepped away from working at the gym fulltime to concentrate strictly on recovery and training. I’ve gone out and trained with different gyms. So the work has been completely different. I’m really excited for this one because it’s really allowed me to grow as a fighter. I’ve seen more progress in this camp than any other.
Q. Is there a message you have for your fans around the world who are rooting for you?
LC: This is the best version of me they’re going to see. Make sure to tune in for this fight.
Tune in to Sony Six and Sony Six HD at 12:30 AM on the 24th of February, to catch all the action from the main card.
