Floyd Mayweather's assistant Marikit ‘Kitchie’ Laurico passes away at 47
Floyd Mayweather's assistant, Marikit Laurico, passed away at the age of 47 over the weekend.
'Money' is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. Holding wins over names such as Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, and more, Mayweather absolutely handled the business in the ring. However, he got a lot of help outside of it as well.
The former champion is known for having a large team and entourage around him. One of those figures, and a close member of Mayweather's inner circle, was Marikit Laurico. The 47-year-old had been the boxing legend's assistant for years and grew close with him and his family.
Sadly, Floyd Mayweather's longtime assistant passed away on Friday night. Laurico had been feeling ill for the last few weeks, especially after a trip to Dubai. As of now, the cause of her passing remains unconfirmed.
Nonetheless, there's already been an outpouring of support for the late Marikit Laurico. While Mayweather is yet to discuss her passing publicly, his daughter, Yaya, released a statement on Instagram. She posted a tribute reading:
"This doesn’t feel real… my heart is so heavy. You were more than just my dad’s assistant you were family. You were the definition of someone with a good heart, you always lifted people up and made them feel good about themselves. Kj loved watching “sharkie” with you. There’s no one like you will truly be missed, love you forever. Rip Kitchie."

Floyd Mayweather assistant: Jamie Foxx pays tribute to Marikit Laurico
Floyd Mayweather's assistant, Marikit Laurico, was clearly beloved based on the tributes rolling in.
Since her passing on Friday, there have been many tributes posted for 'Kitchie'. In addition to Yaya Mayweather, Iyanna Mayweather also made a social media post dedicated to Laurico.
However, it was Jamie Foxx's post that reached far more fans. The actor is friends with Floyd Mayweather and seemingly became close with Marikit Laurico as a result.
The news seemingly caught Foxx off-guard, just like the rest of her family and friends. The 55-year-old also wrote that he saw Laurico just two weeks ago, showing how fragile life can be. Foxx wrote:
"I know they say the god doesn’t make mistakes, but come on man not @ikitchie my heart is shattered. Just saw you two weeks ago. So many questions why… rest beautifully my blessed friend gone too soon gone for no reason."
