Gilbert Burns credits Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry for helping negate upcoming opponent Neil Magny's reach advantage

Gilbert Burns is very grateful for the fighters that spent time with him and helped get him prepared for his upcoming bout with Neil Magny tomorrow night at UFC 283.

During his appearance on the official UFC 283 weigh-in show, Burns revealed who helped him in his training camp. He mentioned that welterweights Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry helped in working on strategies to negate Magny's reach advantage.

He said:

"Luckily at Kill Cliff FC, I have Jason Jackson - Delano Taylor. Those are the two guys that I train the most. Shavkat was there for a little bit - gave me a couple good rounds too - Ian Garry, so all those guys, I'm used to the longer guys...And nowadays, every single detail matters." {4:23 - 4:44}

'Durinho' also believes that repetition in his training is the key to defeating lenghtier opponents. He mentioned that getting the looks in his preparation for 'The Haitain Sensation' has been helpful, saying:

"The key to beat these guys is to be there as many times as a can. So whenever it's a fight time, I've been there many times, so I'm used to this." {5:03 - 5:10}

Burns is currently the No.5 ranked UFC welterweight and is coming off a loss against Khamzat Chimaev, so a decisive win against Magny could help him get back on track and back into the title picture.

Gilbert Burns believes Leon Edwards will defeat Kamaru Usman in their trilogy fight

Gilbert Burns weighed in on the upcoming trilogy fight between UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, which is scheduled to take place at UFC 286 in London.

While speaking with reporters ahead of his bout with Neil Magny, 'Durinho' gave his thoughts on Edwards' upset win against Usman last year at UFC 278. He mentioned that although he wants 'The Nigerian Nightmare' to regain the welterweight championship, he believes 'Rocky' has the edge, saying:

"Now, he's in London, hostile territory. Kamaru {Usman} is going to walk first, is going to be in the octagon waiting for Leon {Edwards}. So, I think it's gonna be a close fight, but if I gotta pick one I think because those little things, I think Leon gets the win. I want Kamaru but I think Leon gets the win." {7:24 - 7:41}
