Henry Cejudo is training with a famous bodybuilder for UFC title fight return against Aljamain Sterling

Henry Cejudo has added a legendary bodybuilder to his training camp.

On May 6, ‘Triple C’ returns to the Octagon for the first time since May 2020. The Olympic gold medalist will take on Aljamain Sterling with the bantamweight championship up for grabs in the UFC 288 main event. Cejudo has put on some weight since his last fight, so he brought in world-renowned bodybuilder Stan Efferding to help him get into peak physical shape.

Efferding won the 2008 NPC Emerald Cup Heavyweight competition and the 2009 NPC Masters Superheavyweight National Championship. The 55-year-old holds various impressive personal records, making him one of the strongest bodybuilders ever and arguably the best competitor the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness has seen.

Cejudo posted a video on YouTube of Efferding and Matt Wiedemer, the owner of BEAT Personal Training, helping him prepare for a smooth and effective weight cut. ‘Triple C’ captioned the video:

Henry Cejudo reveals why he decided to fight again

Henry Cejudo last fought at UFC 249, where he defended his bantamweight championship with a second-round TKO against Dominick Cruz. Since then, Cejudo has done a phenomenal job building his platform through social media and YouTube content.

During a video on his YouTube, ‘Triple C’ explained his desire to fight again by saying:

"There's another mountain that I want to conquer where nobody has ever stepped foot in. I mean, you guys think about it, I'm in a mountain of my own. Two-division champ, Olympic gold medalist, and not in kickboxing, not in boxing, in the hardest sport in the world, which is called wrestling. The spirit of competition is back and I even get scared by it," Cejudo said. [4:33 - 5:00]”

Cejudo made his UFC debut in December 2014, winning his first four fights to secure a flyweight title shot. The Olympic gold medalist hit a rough patch, losing back-to-back fights against Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. He bounced back with six consecutive wins, including four wins in title fights, becoming a two-division champion at flyweight and bantamweight.

The 36-year-old now looks to further his legacy by dethroning Aljamain Sterling on May 6 at UFC 288.
