"Is going to try to cause bruises" - When Mike Perry warned Kamaru Usman about Colby Covington's "distracting smooches"

Mike Perry once fired shots at Colby Covington whilst trying to warn Kamaru Usman ahead of their bout.

Back in 2019, Usman was preparing to make his first welterweight title defense against longtime rival Covington. The pair were then booked to settle their beef in the main event of UFC 245 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Before the fight, however, Perry opted to aim 'Chaos' by sarcastically warning Usman about his game plan heading into the fight. 'Platinum' took to Instagram and shared a photograph of Covington from his bout against Rafael dos Anjos.

Perry then captioned the post with warnings to Usman about Covington trying to 'kiss' him during the fight. He wrote:

"Watch out for these distracting smooches @usman84kg! @colbycovmma is going to try to cause bruises to entice judges by sucking on your neck and kissing you with his #1 herpes attack! #savethehickeysforthechickeys #hebitesnipplestoo #grabsmenrightbythep*nis #poolnoodlepunches #ridesmengood #givecreditwherecreditisdue"

Whilst no kisses happened on the night, their bout did deliver an epic back-and-forth contest that almost went the distance. With under a minute remaining of the fifth round, 'The Nigerian Nightmare' eventually caught Covington with a stiff jab that dropped him to the canvas.

The referee then waved the bout over after Usman's follow-up ground and pound, but both men walked away with a deserved Fight of the Night bonus.

Mike Perry optimistic about a potential bare-knuckle bout against Conor McGregor in the future

Mike Perry believes a BKFC bout between himself and Conor McGregor is certainly on the cards for the future.

'Platinum' is a big fan of the Irishman and has regularly praised him in the media. The pair also took part in a friendly face-off at a BKFC event last year, where McGregor was ringside for the action.

Speaking in a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Perry discussed the prospect of facing McGregor where he revealed it's already been discussed with his manager. He said:

"I think it could be a possibility. When my managed shared it and [he was like], 'This will happen,' I was like, who, that's cool. Look, Conor likes to throw hands. He's a great boxer. Fought Floyd Mayweather. He got a front row sea tto watch my show with Luke [Rockhold] and he gave me respect by coming into the ring and giving me some of his time there. I think it would be fun and incredible." [H/t MMA Fighting]
