What's the story?

While speaking with MMAjunkie Radio recently, UFC Lightweight contender James Vick talked about his last Octagon defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC Fight Night 135, claiming that he has no one to blame but himself for the loss.

In case you didn't know...

James Vick is a professional MMA fighter who is currently under contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where Vick currently competes under the promotion’s Lightweight Division. Vick made his UFC debut back in 2013, at UFC Fight Night 26, where he defeated Ramsey Nijem via submission, within the first round of their fight.

Throughout his professional MMA career, James Vick has competed in a total of 15 fights, out of which he has won a total of 13, losing 2 in the process, with his very recent loss coming at the hands of Justin Gaethje, who defeated Vick via KO within the very first round of their fight.

The heart of the matter

Speaking with MMAjunkie Radio, James Vick stated that he has no one but himself to blame for his loss against Justin Gaethje back in August. Vick noted that he had earned himself a big opportunity, but eventually blew it. However, the 31-year-old definitely remains confident about his skill-set. (H/T: MMAjunkie)

“I got caught early, and I can’t blame anybody but myself. I got a big opportunity, and I frickin’ blew it, and it sucks. But I’m not any less confident in myself and my skill-set. I just feel like it’s going to be a long road back to getting a big fight like that because these guys already don’t want to fight me anyway.”

What's next?

James Vick will next step into the Octagon at UFC 233 on the 26th of January, 2019, as he finally gets set to lock horns with Paul Felder.
