Jeremy Pacatiw says lack of trash talk between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes leads to high level fight
Team Lakay’s Jeremy Pacatiw believes that the mutual respect between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes leads to better fights inside the Circle.
On May 5, Johnson and Moraes will meet for the third and final time in a highly anticipated trilogy bout for the ONE flyweight world championship. Johnson, the reigning titleholder, will have the home-field advantage as the promotion heads to the 1stBank Center in Colorado for its long-awaited U.S. debut.
In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Jeremy Pacatiw shared his thoughts on the lack of trash talk between Johnson and Moraes and suggested that their respect for one another will ultimately lead to a better matchup at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video.
“Those two never talked trash to each other, that’s why I think that both of them have this calm mindset heading into the fight," Jeremy Pacatiw said. "I’ll just go with both of them.”
Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes each hold the designation of being the first man to knock the other out. Moraes handed ‘Mighty Mouse’ his first career KO at ONE on TNT 1 in April 2021. 16 months later, Johnson avenged that loss, delivering a brutal fourth-round flying knee knockout at ONE on Prime Video 1 in August.
In less than eight weeks' time, the two flyweight superstars will battle once again, with pride and 26 pounds of ONE gold on the line.
With flyweight supremacy on the line, Jeremy Pacatiw believes Demetrious Johnson may feel the pressure of the moment
Demetrious Johnson has competed at the highest level for more than a decade. Competing in multiple world championship contests, ‘Mighty Mouse’ knows what it takes to win and keep gold around his waist. However, his May 5 showdown with Adriano Moraes is about more than ONE Championship gold. It’s about being recognized as the best in the world.
Johnson and Moraes are undeniably the two most decorated flyweights in the world of mixed martial arts. When they square off in the biggest trilogy bout in ONE history, the legacy will be just as important as the world title that hangs in the balance.
“I think this won’t be anything new for DJ because he’s already fought in the US,” Jeremy Pacatiw said. “I think there will be a bit of pressure because that’s his home country and he’s the defending world champion. I think that he really has to show that he’s the best flyweight in the world.”
