Jerry Lawler says WWE stars "outshine" UFC talent

Jerry “The King” Lawler

SportingNews.com recently spoke to WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler at the C2E2 convention in Chicago, which you can check out in the video below. During the interview, Lawler talked about Ronda Rousey's appearance at WrestleMania 31.

“I think a lot of people would look at that as saying, oh here's a big star from the UFC coming into the WWE world,” Lawler said. “In the grand scheme of things, the stars in the WWE far outshine the stars in the UFC worldwide and in popularity.

“It's always a great marriage so to speak. When you can get the rub off of each other. It's like cross-promotion. It's good for everybody involved. And to see Ronda Rousey in a WWE ring and I know for me because I'm a big fan of her, it was exciting, it was fun and it caused a bit of talk which is exactly what it was designed to do.”

UFC light heavyweight title contender Anthony Johnson recently joined The Roman Show and talked about his relationship with Kurt Angle. Johnson talked about being psyched for his upcoming fight against Daniel Cormier for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title, and was asked about a possible pro-wrestling career.

“You never know what might happen,” Johnson said. “Kurt Angle is a good friend of mine. It’s not like I couldn't get into the business. Right now, I am focused in mixed martial arts. Wrestling is not on my radar.”

Johnson also noted that he never asked for wrestling advice from Angle to incorporate into his MMA game.

“No, not at all,” he said. “By the time I met Kurt, he had injuries from wrestling. So it wasn't time to screw around with wrestling.”
