Khamzat Chimaev reveals that he accepted many fights, including a current champion and Colby Covington
Khamzat Chimaev has not fought in over six months despite calling out several top contenders. The No.3-ranked welterweight recently revealed that he has accepted fights with Colby Covington, Alex Pereira, and Robert Whittaker.
Speaking with Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour, 'Borz' stated:
"I accept all fights, but the fights never happen. That was Colby, that was Alex Pereira, then it was Whittaker. I accept all the fights, but it didn't happen so I don't know what's happening or what I'm waiting for... I think [I've accepted] three or four [fights]."
Khamzat Chimaev added:
"With Colby, they called me many times, 'do you accept the fight here? Do you accept the fight there?' and I said yes, yes. I had a conversation with Sean Shelby when Alex Pereira won the fight, I told them let me fight with that guy in Brazil. He said, 'come on, let's go brother' then after he said, 'no bro we'll fight Colby'. I said ok, we'll go with Colby, but it never happened."

Chimaev added that Colby Covington ignored him until UFC President Dana White announced he was moving to middleweight. He pointed out that 'Chaos' began talking about him after the announcement, however, when the No.2-ranked welterweight was offered a contract, he was quiet. He claimed that he is still willing to take the bout at 170 pounds.
Khamzat Chimaev claims Colby Covington is an easy fight
Khamzat Chimaev has made it clear that he wants to face Colby Covington in the octagon. The No.3-ranked welterweight recently shared that he believes 'Chaos' would be an easy opponent, stating:
"For me, that's an easy fight. I'm a much better grappler than him, much better wrestler than him. Striking as well, I have a hard punch... How's he going to use his cardio? How's he going to take me down? How's he going to hurt me? He's too little boy."

Chimaev has not fought in over six months as he has accused several top contenders of avoiding him. Covington has not fought in over a year despite being called out by the four welterweight contenders directly underneath him in the rankings. UFC President Dana White has claimed that the No.2-ranked welterweight is next in line for a title shot, however, welterweight champion Leon Edwards has hinted that he may refuse to sign the contract as he believes 'Chaos' is undeserving.
