Starting his professional career in 2009, Chandler boasts a record of 23 wins and eight losses in mixed martial arts. The majority of his wins were via knockout (11), submission (seven), and the rest via decision (five). Over the years, Michael Chandler had stepped up against some of the most prominent lightweights in the UFC like Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Tony Ferguson, Will Brooks, and Eddie Alvarez.

However, Michael Chandler had not fought since November 2022, when he lost to Dustin Poirier via a third-round submission. Chandler had booked against Conor McGregor for his comeback fight in June 2024.
