Michael Chandler's teammate Ian Garry predicts he will lose to Conor McGregor, 'Iron' reacts
Michael Chandler recently reacted to his teammate Ian Garry predicting Conor McGregor will beat him when they square off later this year.
Earlier today, Chandler answered fan questions on his Twitter account. One fan asked him what he thought about Garry openly critiquing his fighting style and even going as far as saying McGregor would defeat him:
"Your team mate, Ian Garry, constructively criticized your fight IQ and admitted he’s team Connor, how does that make you feel?"
It's no surprise that Irish welterweight Ian Garry is a fan of his compatriot. 'The Future' has even claimed that Conor McGregor is the reason he got into the sport in the first place.
Garry currently trains at KillCliff FC, where Michael Chandler has trained for years. Chandler wasn't fazed at all by his teammate being a supporter of McGregor, writing:
"He’s a kid…don’t care"
Ian Garry's style is quite similar to Conor McGregor's. Both fighters are slick counter-strikers with devastating power. While McGregor appears to be amidst the twilight of his UFC career with just two fights left on his current deal, Garry's UFC journey has only just begun.
Garry joined the UFC with a perfect record in 2021. The former Cage Warriors champion has already racked up four wins inside the octagon to take his record to 11-0.
Conor McGregor previews Michael Chandler fight
Conor McGregor is excited to return to the octagon later this year and is confident that he will be too much for Michael Chandler to handle when they eventually lock horns.
McGregor recently spoke to Barstool Sports' Robbie Fox about his upcoming fight with the three-time Bellator lightweight champion and mentioned that he has fought a similar opponent in the past, while Chandler hasn't faced anyone quite like 'The Notorious'.
Revealing that he's "too slick" and too skilled" for the American, McGregor said:
"I'm just too slick for him. Too skilled for him. And he's not fought someone like me. I've fought someone like him, though... He's had some excellent fights and he's earned this right to be in this position but it'll be my job now on fight night to show the levels and show that there's a much higher difference in skill level here."
