MMA News: Alberto Del Rio wants to end Tito Ortiz's career
Former WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio will step inside the cage on Saturday in the main event of Combate Americas as he takes on Tito Ortiz and he claims that he will ensure it is the last time Ortiz is seen competing inside the cage. (h/t BJ Pen)
While speaking to ESPN's Ariel Helwani, Del Rio rubbished the claims of former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen who said that the fight will be fixed.
“I think it’s pretty stupid for someone like him to say stuff like that because we have two individuals, two athletes, two Mexican-Americans working their (expletive) off. For someone like Sonnen to come and say something like that is disrespectful.”
Del Rio insists he will not only take Ortiz's UFC title which the latter is putting on the line for the fight, but also make sure Ortiz's MMA career is well and truly over after the fight.
“In order to get a title, you have to put hours and hours of sweat, blood, and tears in order to accomplish those awards. So it’s not so much about taking the belt, it’s taking his legacy. For me, it’s going to be amazing to kick his ass and then take that UFC title and put it in my trophy room. [I’m] ready to end his career because he’s going to have to retire after this fight."
Del Rio was last seen competing in a professional MMA bout back in 2010 when he lost via TKO against Yamamoto Hanshi.
