MMA News: Bellator Europe headliner set to feature prodigy James Gallagher
Bellator will be returning to Ireland with a star-studded card for their first European Series event next year.
Bellator Europe 7 is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2020 at 3Arena in Dublin and so far four fights have been confirmed by the promotion for the night's event. The Bellator Dublin card will be headlined by Ireland native James Gallagher taking on his English opponent Cal Ellenor, according to a report by MMA Junkie.
Confirmed fights of Bellator Europe 7
Gallagher and Ellenor were originally booked for a bout at Bellator Europe 4 in the same venue. But the trouble with his brain scan forced Ellenor to withdraw from the event and focus on his possible diagnosis, while Gallagher went on to fight is out and submit Ellenor's replacement Roman Salazar in a 35-second via a guillotine chokehold.
Eventually, Ellenor was cleared to fight after a second medical opinion and their fight was rebooked for the February 22 event. Bellator explained the situation with Ellenor in a statement where the fight was announced.
"Ellenor has been medically cleared by a licensed physician to return to active competition, following an incorrect reading initially provided by a doctor in South Africa."
The card features three other Irish nationals as well, in the form of Philip Mulpeter, Ryan Roddy and Karl Moore respectively. Mulpeter has dropped down to Lightweight to fight former BAMMA Featherweight Champion Daniel Crawford and is looking forward to registering his second win in Bellator.
Roddy and his Scottish opponent Chris Duncan both have one Bellator wins and zero losses each and both will be eager to topple the other in this Lightweight contest. Former Cage Warriors Light Heavyweight Champion Karl Moore will be taking on a veteran of 15 professional MMA wins, Arunas Andriuskevicus at 205 pounds.
