MMA Rumours: CM Punk has lost nearly all of his test fights

Mind willing, body not?

CM Punk’s much-hyped UFC debut has turned into one big roast with his former colleagues, peers in the UFC and legions of fans taking turns on the mic. And the latest to step forward is top 10 Middleweight and UFC veteran Michael Bisping.

‘The Count’ recently sat down with Sirius XM Radio and when the subject of Punk’s debut was broached, he said that the latter had faced sixteen test fighters or ‘smokers’ in the gym and lost fifteen of the simulated fights.

The announcement that Punk had signed with the UFC in 2014 was met with mixed reactions, to say the least, considering that a 36-year-old with no fight experience had just strolled into the UFC.

The longest reigning (since 1988) WWE Champion’s MMA debut has been mothballed for some time now, the latest rescheduling coming in February. Punk suffered a herniated disc on the day it was determined that 23-year-old Mickey Gall would be his first opponent.

Punk, real name Phil Brooks, successfully underwent surgery to alleviate the old wrestling injury and according to UFC President Dana White was considered for the UFC 199 card. But the recovery period of four to six weeks has precluded that and there are reports that he could feature on the UFC 200 card, or at the very least, some time before 2016 ends.
