MMA News: Cris Cyborg to be present at Brave 4: Unstoppable in Abu Dhabi
Chris Cyborg has announced that she will be present at the fourth edition of Brave Combat Federation to be held in Abu Dhabi.
The “most feared women’s fighter on the planet” had been invited as an ambassador for WMMA by none other than the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Chris Cyborg has been active in supporting the growth of MMA in Asia, especially in the Middle East and India by recognising emerging talent.
Cyborg has long reigned and dominated at 145 pounds, capturing titles in both Strikeforce and Invicta FC.
She is unbeaten in MMA competition dating back to 2005, holding notable victories over Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen, Leslie Smith, and Lina Lansberg — the latter two of which took place at a 140-pound catchweight in the UFC.
Cris Cyborg is ready to return to the octagon and she has her target set on UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie.
Here’s what Cyborg had to say about Abu Dhabi and BRAVE:
“I am excited to visit Abu Dhabi and witness the BRAVE MMA event live, I heard they did an amazing show in my hometown Curitiba, Brazil and I’m excited to see them return back to the Middle East and promote the local talent.
MMA is growing thanks to help from Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad of the Kingdom of Bahrain and people like him in the MENA region.
I look forward to seeing the sport continue to grow and women being given the same opportunities to train and compete.”
Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has been a big part of getting mixed martial arts events in Bahrain. The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has granted Bahrain the honour to host the 2017 IMMAF World Championships in November.
This marks the first time that the IMMAF World Championships will be held outside Las Vegas and promoted by a promotion other than UFC.
