MMA News: Ex-Bellator fighter Shahbulat Shamhalaev shot five times

Shahbulat Shamhalaev wont the Bellator Featherweight tournament

In a horrific incident that had occured on tuesday, former Bellator Fc fighter has been shot at an restuarant in Makhachkala, Russia. Shahbulat Shamhalaev was immediately rushed to the near by hospital following the shoot out. He was shot five times and also had recieved a bullet in the head. This has sent shock waves throught the MMA community. 

We apologise for the bad quality of the video but it is the only survillence footage of the crime.

The fighter underwent an surgery involving removal of a kidney and is placed in the intensive care according to sherdog.com. The assailant has not yet been identified but there is a footage of him shooting the Shamhalaev five times, caught by a cctv camera. He doesn’t appear clearly in the survelliance video but multiple assailants can be seem entering the restuarant and leaving hasting out after the assault. 

Later Karim Zidan of Bloody Elbow has tweeted that Shamhalaev was in a stable condition. 

Shamhalaev had successfully won the Bellator Season Seven featherweight tournament and later went on to fight for the title at Bellator 95 againt then Bellator featherweight champion Pat Curran in a losing effort. He compiled a record of 12-3 before being released by the organisation after two consecutive losses.
