MMA News: Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor & Nate Diaz jab one another ahead of uncertain 2018 in UFC
What’s the story?
Floyd Mayweather Jr., Conor McGregor, and Nate Diaz have taken to social media so as to take shots at one another.
After Mayweather posted a photo-shopped image of him elbowing McGregor, the latter responded with a picture of himself and Diaz. Taking note of the same, Diaz fired back with a photo of his own.
In case you didn’t know…
Floyd Mayweather has teased a potential rematch of his 2017 boxing bout with Conor McGregor—only this time having the fight take place under MMA rules inside the UFC’s famed Octagon.
While Mayweather won the aforementioned boxing match by way of 10th round TKO; UFC President Dana White and McGregor have called out Mayweather on not coming over to the MMA realm and offering a rematch to McGregor.
The heart of the matter
Floyd Mayweather posted a photo-shopped image of him wearing MMA gloves and landing an elbow strike on a bloody Conor McGregor; referring to himself as a Certified Killer and McGregor as a Certified B****.
In response to the same, McGregor posted a legitimate photo of him landing an elbow on Nate Diaz during his rematch with the latter at UFC 202 in August of 2016; with the caption—“A real elbow in a real fight.”
Apparently, Diaz got wind of the same and posted a photo of him in the full-mount position on McGregor during their first fight at UFC 196—a bout in which he defeated the latter by way of submission—with the caption—“Real kill in real war.”
What’s next?
Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are presently lobbying for an MMA fight to take place between them in the UFC—with trade pundits predicting that the fight could garner north of $500 million, should it happen.
On the other hand, Nate Diaz has confirmed that he’s eyeing a return to the Octagon between May and June this year.
Author’s take
Floyd Mayweather is playing with fire here and could tarnish his legacy to a certain extent if he chooses to step inside the UFC’s Octagon, fight McGregor in the latter’s own sport, and likely lose in brutal fashion.
Regardless, the most hilarious part of this entire chain social media exchanges is Nate Diaz’s stinging jab at not only McGregor but also Mayweather—opining that MMA is closer to real war than pro-boxing.
