MMA News : Michael Chiesa forced out of UFC Fight Night 91 bout against Tony Ferguson
In an unfortunate turn of events, the winner of the Ultimate Fighter 15 Michael Chiesa has pulled out of a fight citing injury. He was scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson at UFC Fight Night on July 13.
Providing clearer details on his injury, he stated on his facebook page that he had a disc injury in his back that forced him out of action.
"During a routine training session, I felt a pop and shift in my lower back followed by very very sharp pains that left me on the floor. I found out today I have a fully ruptured disk. I will undergo 8 weeks of physical therapy and rehab to hopefully avoid having to go under the knife and get back surgery.” he explained, reported foxsports.com.
Chiesa has a seven wins and two losses during his UFC career and has earned five bonuses of the night. A match with Ferguson would have pushed him onto a whole different level, with a victory possibly even catapulting him into title contention.
Ferguson, on the other hand, will have to wait for a new opponent. He was previously scheduled to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov in April, but pulled out citing an injury.
