MMA News: Ronda admits her nervousness to fight Cyborg!
Two of the most powerful women in combat sports, Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg are meant to cross each other. The wait for the two to collide had begun way prior to Cyborg joining the UFC. People had been picking the Brazilian as the ultimate opponent who could beat the then-undefeated Rousey until Holly Holm showed up to knock her out.
But only recently Ronda has revealed her thoughts on the possible match.
According to reports, she has admitted to Colin Cowherd of Foxsports 1 that she feels ‘nervous’ to fight the Brazilian ‘a**-kicking’ machine. Fans also feel that Rousey has been avoiding this fight for ages. However, according to Cowherd, Ronda has agreed with UFC President Dana White to fight Cyborg.
Cyborg recently called out Ronda on FS1 ‘Speak for yourself’ show and stated that Ronda would require surgery on her face after she fights the Brazilian. She has also stated that she has left her previous opponent broken in three places, and it won’t turn out to be a surprise if history repeats.
The most unfortunate issue for Cyborg is that she originally fights at featherweight, and was the inaugural Strikeforce Featherweight and inaugural Invicta FC Featherweight champion. Since the UFC doesn’t have a women’s featherweight division, she has been fighting at catchweight of 140 pounds.
To make it worse the UFC doesn’t seem to be interested in introducing women’s 145 pounds division at this moment. Either the two have to fight at a catchweight of 140 pounds or Cyborg should go down in in weight classes to the bantamweight division. But the severe weight cut could not possibly help her.
Many have echoed her opinion for introducing a women’s featherweight division and UFC commentator Joe Rogan is one.
