MMA News Roundup: Leon Edwards' team disses UFC sponsor, fighter defends career-threatening stance, Conor McGregor faces off with Michael Chandler
Welcome to today's edition of Sportskeeda's daily MMA News Roundup, where we present the biggest UFC updates and other stories from the world of mixed martial arts.
In today's issue, we talk about Leon Edwards' post-weigh-in diet, Conor McGregor's first TUF face-off, and more.
#3. Leon Edwards' dietician dismisses Logan Paul's Prime
UFC fighters are contractually bound to be seen with the logos of the promotion's sponsors. However, it doesn't mean that they prefer the products in their personal regimes.
Leon Edwards' dietician Jordan Sullivan recently posted about the fighter's post-weigh-in hydration routine. In the video, everything Edwards intakes after hitting the scales is explained in detail.
Ironically, Sullivan dismisses Prime right at the beginning of the clip, calling it 'literally the worst' product to use for hydration purposes.
Prime, owned by Logan Paul and KSI, is marketed as a healthier alternative to Gatorade. The company has gained tremendous traction in the USA and UK. They recently signed a multi-year deal with the UFC and the brand is now the official sports drink of the promotion.
#2. Muhammad Mokaev would rather ruin his career than tap out
Surging prospect Muhammad Mokaev dropped some jaws at UFC 286 by toughing out an insane kneebar hold from opponent Jafel Filho. He later managed to turn the tables and submit 'Pastor' in the third round.
Following the fight, Mokaev admitted in the press conference that he heard multiple cracks in his knee and thought he would pop it out. Facing criticism from fans for risking his body, Mokaev said that he would rather end his career than be known as a "quitter."
Mokaev had to walk out of the arena with the help of crutches. He posted a picture of his knee, which looked red and swollen from the ground exchange.
#1. Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler UFC faceoff photos
Conor McGregor shared the pictures of the first faceoff with Michael Chandler ahead of their much-anticipated fight, which is set to take place at the end of the upcoming TUF season.
The two are coaching against each other in the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter. The show is yet to air, but there has already been quite a bit of drama involving the two, as expected.
After posting four snaps of the faceoff, McGregor made a bold 'Mystic Mac'-esque prediction about the pay-per-view sales of the fight.
