MMA News: Johnson to face Teixeira and Story to face Cerrone at UFC 202
Anthony Johnson will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 202 in Las Vegas, to face fellow veteran Glover Teixeira in a light heavyweight bout. The duo was originally scheduled to fight at Fox UFC Fight Night card in Chicago on July 23rd, but Johnson was forced to pull out citing family issues.
The winner of the Johnson-Teixiera fight may probably earn a title shot, and face the winner of the main event of UFC 200 between bitter rivals Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
Johnson’s first championship fight for the title was scheduled to be against Jon Jones at UFC 187, who was then stripped of the title and replaced with Cormier, who eventually won their encounter.
The fight card is also supported by other matches; with Donald Cerrone fighting against Ricky Story in a welterweight bout and of course, the highly anticipated main event rematch between Conor Mcgregor and Nate Diaz at welterweight.
Fans have long considered Anthony Rumble Johnson to be the man with the skill set required to hand a legitimate loss to Jon Jones. Should he overcome Glover Teixiera, that fight could finally be realised should Jones also manage to unify the belts against DC at UFC 200.
