MMA News: Dominick Cruz confident that he can beat Conor McGregor!

‘Cruz-ing’ all the way!

Dominick Cruz is a force to be recognised in the UFC’s bantamweight division. The man has never lost in the UFC and was the inaugural and current UFC Bantamweight champion. Only this week he proclaimed that he has what it takes to beat the UFC Featherweight champion, Conor McGregor.

The dominance he has displayed by slaying every challenge put in front of him has simply proved that he is capable of doing wonders in the Octagon. Cruz has been lately talking about his desire of a possible bout with The Notorious one.

The two-time UFC champion explained on UFC on Fox how he would beat McGregor if given the opportunity:

“Look everyone’s calling out Conor McGregor, and I don’t want to be another guy because everybody wants that fight,’ Cruz said.

“But, the thing is, McGregor is picking his own fights. So that’s not up to me, it’s not up to UFC, it’s up to McGregor. Now I know as much as McGregor, and more, about this sport than anybody, and it seems that the only way to beat McGregor is with your mind. I know I can do that, and I know that I can also technically beat him. And I know that at 145 pounds I am extremely fast and hard to deal with. I can beat McGregor, absolutely.”

Furthermore, the Bantamweight Champion added that he was ready for the challenge at 145 or even 155 pounds.

“And I would love to fight him at 145 pounds or 155 pounds if he wins the title. I don’t care, I’m the champion and my style is built for moving up in weight classes because I don’t take damage.”

Despite a size and reach disadvantage, Cruz is pretty confident in his abilities to dismantle McGregor, blow by blow. According to Cruz, him moving up in weight won’t slow him down nor diminish his abilities.

Cruz is the only fighter to win the UFC Bantamweight title on two occasions. But Cruz’s career involves misfortunes as he had to vacate the title citing injuries after defending the title against Demetrious Johnson. He is ranked as the best bantamweight in the world by several websites, as his resume consists of victories over Urijah Faber, TJ Dillashaw, current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, and much more.

One can find the similarities in his and McGregor’s career as both the champions have never been knocked out but only been submitted via a rear naked choke under the Zuffa’s ownership.
