Move aside Drake Curse, MMA has a new jinx after Israel Adesanya's UFC 305 defeat

A hilarious new revelation speculates that Israel Adesanya's UFC 305 loss to Dricus du Plessis was brought forth by a curse. For folks already drawing conclusions, no, it's not the Drake Curse.

For context, the Drake Curse is a popular belief that athletes or teams that the hip-hop star favors on the betting tables almost always seem to lose.

The so-called curse, however, has lost steam recently with the rapper winning big on numerous occasions. However, reinvigorating the superstition mill once more is the PRIME curse.

Per a social media post of the sports docuseries Anatomy of a Fighter's X handle, Adesanya and fellow UFC superstar Alexander Volkanovski have gone 1-4 in their last five since signing with the sports hydration company PRIME.

PRIME, founded and co-promoted by social media stars Logan Paul and KSI, has taken the sports beverage industry by storm since its launch in 2022.

They are currently the official hydration partner of the UFC and sponsors multiple sporting icons, including soccer star Erling Haaland and WWE superstar Cody Rhodes.

Other athletes signed by the company appear to be faring fine, with only the MMA fighters seemingly being the affected party of the supposed curse. In fact, after singing with PRIME, Adesanya has failed to win a single fight.

On the other hand, Volkanovski won his first fight after joining the PRIME ranks. However, he suffered KO losses in his next two bouts.

Interestingly the curse does not seem to affect UFC as a company. According to a report by SportsPro, the world's premier MMA promotion increased its earnings by 13% last year.
