"Nasty work Jojo" - Fans loving teenage phenom Johan Ghazali's clinical knockout of Edgar Tabares in Bangkok
When Johan Ghazali was matched against Edgar Tabares in December 2023 at ONE Fight Night 17 in a flyweight Muay Thai contest, he was the underdog heading into the match.
But Ghazali immediately proved that he was the real deal after he made quick work of the former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title challenger with a 36-second knockout finish inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
ONE Championship relived the finishing sequence of that match, as they reposted the knockout finish on Instagram and captioned it with:
"Down to a science 🧬 Will teen phenom Johan Ghazali score another powerful finish against Josue Cruz on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver 👊 @johanghazali_"
'Jojo' brought out a nasty combination and attacked the Mexican's head and body until he floored him down the canvas. This highlight-reel finish received high praise from fans, especially from users @mmajournalcanada, @nuraimanfitri, @hafifiamar, and @jonnyisaac who commended the 17-year-old phenom with their comments:
"Nasty work JoJo"
"Malaysia's future! Heads up, Jojo! Payback time, comeback is real! 👊 @johanghazali_"
"dude is a body shot specialist 🔥🔥"
"Measure twice, hit once. Superb work!"
Johan Ghazali wants to record an impressive bounce-back win at ONE 168: Denver
Ghazali is coming off his first ONE Championship defeat courtesy of five-time Muay Thai world champion Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat on June 7 at ONE 167, where he absorbed a tough unanimous decision loss from the Vietnamese veteran.
However, the Renthap Muaythai Gym-affiliated athlete has moved on from that setback and is now looking to return to the win column, as he is pitted against Josue Cruz in a flyweight Muay Thai contest on Sept. 6 at ONE 168: Denver inside the Ball Arena in Colorado.
ONE 168: Denver will transpire from the Ball Arena in U.S. primetime on Sept. 6. Tickets for the event are available on Ticketmaster.
